We just wrapped up our inaugural Spring Baseball Clinic, and we were blessed by the fantastic turnout of kids & volunteers. Heath Bell, the All Star pitcher of the San Diego Padres, stopped by & gave the kids over an hour of coaching on baseball fundamentals. He also shared his story of going from being cut from his high school team, to not getting a scholarship to play college ball, to being an undrafted MLB player- to reaching the top of the game as MLB’s top closer.
It was a great story that taught the kids perseverance, to never give-up, and the power of having someone who believes in you. In Bell’s case it was both his earthly Dad & heavenly Father. In the case of the inner city kids at the camp, HLF’s goal is to stand in the gap for the fatherless, providing that positive role model & also to let them know that there is a Heavenly Father that will always be there for them. Over 100 kids participated in the clinic. All the kids left with a Bible, HLF t-shirt, Reebok hat & dri-fit shirt& 2 tickets to go see the SD Padres. Click here to see Photos.
Special thanks goes out to all of our volunteers, Heath Bell, The San Diego Padres and Reebok.
